Swimming Race my daughter is cold after a swimming race, and looks pasty?
aged 11, trains 7.5 hours a week, but looks ill after races but not training. Also goes very cold.
She is putting out 100% of her energy during a race. Her body is fatigued. It is pretty common to feel kinda ill and especially chilly after a race. But if it is extreme, I would definatley get her a physical with the doctor. Some bloodwork and a look at her heart would probably be smart just to be safe. I am a swimmer and I do remember feeling kinda ill sometimes after a race. Ask any athlete, they will tell ya that putting your all in a race takes a lot out of you. This is exactly why children should be cleared by the doctor before participating in sports.

Advancements In Swimming Pool Design And Construction
Swimming pools have been with us since Greco-Roman times. The ancient Greeks and Romans built and used them for athletic training, nautical games, military exercises, and other such purposes we might call commercial today. The Roman lord Gaius Maecenas is believed to have built the first heated swimming pool in the first century B.C., and the first popular pools are thought to have appeared in Great Britain in the early-to-mid 19th century.
Modern swimming pool construction techniques and materials began to appear in the 1930s, when Paddock Pools introduced a pneumatically applied concrete and sand aggregate mix, known as gunite, for pool construction. This substance enabled pool builders to fashion free-form pool shapes and recycle, in effect, the dirt excavations for a pool’s framework. In the same decade, the company came forth with silicate, a white silica sand plaster, as the first known non-tile pool finish.Swimming took off in popularity following the birth of the modern Olympic games in 1896, which included swimming races. The actual appearance of the first swimming pool in the United States, commercial or otherwise, is difficult to determine, but by 1907, the Racquet Club of Philadelphia included one of the world’s first above-ground pools. Moreover, though they are familiar fixtures on cruise ships today; the first known swimming pool to feature on an ocean liner was on the Adriatic, a White Star Line ship, in 1907.
Commercial swimming pools are built for resorts and housing complexes, municipal recreation centers, schools, military facilities, and competition complexes. Community pools are designed in numerous shapes from standard rectangles to free-style mini-water-park appearances. Competition pools are typically rectangular, and often as not municipalities prefer these to double as community recreation and community athletic program pools. In addition, they require more acute, sophisticated, and fast filtration systems than private residential pools normally require, because far more people use these pools than a typical family uses a private residential pool.
Paddock Pools also developed a mechanical skimming device, when a company technician fashioned a system of recirculating overflow, allowing surface water to be cleaned through the pool’s own filtration system. It took another company team to solve the problem of expensive pipe maintenance by developing a manufactured pipeless perimeter, which now use steel channels to bring the water to the filtering system and removing any need for perimeter piping. Moreover, in the 21st century, Paddock has developed ultraviolet light purification for swimming pool use.
Today, advancements in swimming pool heaters are once again revolutionizing the industry. From solar to geothermal, alternative energy sources are being used to heat pools and save money on utilities.
Diving Swim Ear I have had water stuck in my ear for days!!!?
A few days ago i was in the pool swimming and diving and all. Then once i got out i noticed i had water stuck in my ear. It is really annoying and it muffels the sound in my ear. I have tryed hopping on one leg and everything but it is so stubborn what can i do please help!!!!
Your best bet would be to pick up a product for your local drug store. They have a product called "swim ear" which is relatively inexpensive and will dry up all of the liquid in your ear.
Lay on your bed, and smack the opposite side of your head, just above the ear. If all else fails, you can try using a little bit of peroxide, that will clean out your ears, and hopefully the water will drain.

How can i unplug my ear??!!?
I was swimming yesterday and i dove down too deep and my ear popped and filled up with water. Does anyone know how to unplug it??
My answer is going to sounds extremely retarded and you might not even consider my answer but still try it, and if it works, choose mine as the best answer.
1. Fill your mouth with water. (I know it's weird)
2. Tilt your head so that the side with the water is facing the floor.
3. Stick your pinky finger in an out continously.
4. Start slapping your other ear (the one that's fine). But not hard because you can hurt yourself.
5. Do it till the water is gone!
Exercise Weight Can an obese person who eats semi healthy with no exercise lose weight?
I know this person who eats frozen meals (healthy choice, lean cuisine, etc) everyday. They add salt to it when it already has 800 mg of sodium. they ass salt to everything. They "claim" to be trying to lose weight but they never exercise. i was wondering if it was in any way possible for them to lose anything.this person is about 5'2 350 pounds african american female early 40's with extremely bad knees. there are no underlying health conditions and the have high blood pressure.
It is possible. The best way to do this is to calorie count. If you eat fewer calories than your body burns you will lose weight(even without exercise). One of the best things that I have found is to use a food journal. writing down what and how much you eat. EVERYTHING!
Increased salt can add to belly fat. Decrease the salt or switch to salt substitute.
Carbohydrates should be about 55% of our diet, proteins 20% and Fats 25%. This is well balanced.
I personally use the app on ipod touch called "lose it". very easy to use. I have used it for 9 mths and lost 53 lbs. I only started to exercise in the last month or two. I lost over 45 lbs before exercising began. To me this is worth the money spent on an ipod touch!!!

Swimming Training Aid Is using swimming training aids (fins, paddles & kick board) actually making me more dependent on them?
Are these aids actually making me stronger, or will it be harder for me to swim without them? Which training aid does what?
I swim for 1.25 hours every day, about 30 laps freestyle and 10 laps with kick board in a 50 meter outdoor pool.
No, they won't make you dependant! Using a kick board allows you to focus on your leg action, strengthening them so they will give you more power when you put them back together with your arms.
Other aids you may wish to try are pull buoys - a float for your legs so you can work on your arms,
fins (flippers) and hand paddles are good for strengthening legs and arms respectivly but with these you will go slower after taking them off but they are working and you should see you "unaided" swimming times improving!

BenderStik Golf Training Aid The BenderStik golf training aid is uniquely designed to help you build a consistent golf swing that will last for a lifetime. To improve at golf you must use either positive or negative feedback while training your swing. With the BenderStik golf swing trainer, it doesn?t matter where or when you practice, the Benderstik provide this all-important feedback, which is imperative for improvement. No one picks up a club for the first time and swings it with a naturally proper and efficient motion. The reason we all have the different golf swings we do is because we repeated the motion over and over until it built a motor program in our brain. With this repetition comes familiarity and comfort. In order to change and improve your current motor program you must use feedback to disrupt the old familiar movement and to guarantee the new desired swing motion is actually occurring. This type of practice produces correct new feelings, which ultimately transfer to the course during play after enough correct repetitions. The more you practice with feedback, the more ingrained the new motion becomes and the more reliable the new swing. Practice does not make perfect, but perfect practice makes perfect and if you are not using feedback in your practice you are wasting your time.

Scuba Diving Training Programs
Scuba Diving is a sport that has grown in popularity in the past decade, evolving from something that was utilized by scientists and naturalists to further their research, turning into a popular pastime for many people. It's grown to such an extent that even beach resorts have started offering scuba diving lessons, as well as equipment rentals and certified trainers to accompany untrained noobie divers who just want to try it out.
Scuba means Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, and involves operating underwater with a tank or rebreather that supplies oxygen to the diver. Types of Scuba are seperated based on the breathing apparatus employed in the dive. In open circuit scuba, the air is supplied by a tank or other source, and once inhaled, is exhaled into the surrounding water. It is the most common type of scuba used for recreation.
In closed circuit scuba, the air is recycled though the use of devices called rebreathers, and oxygen is reintroduced into the air supply of the diver by an apparatus. In semi closed circuit scuba, mixed gases are used as the air supply, taking part of the air exhaled by the diver as well as adding to it with an air supply similar to that used in open circuit scuba. Semi closed circuit scuba is more difficult to learn than open or closed circuit scuba diving alone, because it involves knowledge from both types of diving because the breathing apparatus used is a fusion of the two.
Scuba diving clubs and other organizations offer lessons in scuba diving in an effort to expand the growing popularity of this sport. On a more professional level, some of these organizations even offer advanced scuba lessons which allow trained scuba divers to expand their repertoire and go diving in conditions and environments which are otherwise restricted to other divers who don't possess the training to handle them. Here are some of the prerequisites for diving, as well as some of the advanced scuba courses that experienced divers can take.
Prerequisites - any and every scuba diver must have skills in swimming, obviously. Aside from this, however, a scuba diver must have had training and experience in snorkeling, which forms the basis for some of the techniques used in scuba diving. If you want to take up scuba diving as a sport but don't know how to snorkel yet, then take up snorkeling first before taking a course in scuba.
Regular Scuba Certification - this trains a person in the basics of scuba diving, allowing operation in shallow water and near shorelines, and is mainly used for training scuba divers who undertake the sport for purely recreational purposes. For a vast majority of people who take up the hobby, this is enough.
Open Water Scuba - this is for scuba divers who operate out of sight of the shoreline. They will have to take a boat to get to the dive area, so skills in operating a boat are part of the prerequisites for open water scuba diving. Open water scuba usually involves diving to greater depths than a regular diver, and divers who use this method need special equipment like floater buoys to let other boats on the surface know that there's a diver in the spot, as well as underwater line markers, reels, and underwater floaters for underwater navigation.
Rescue Scuba - this is a special training course that focuses on rescue operations for other divers. Those who usually take it are employed in the search-and-rescue business. Training includes first aid, obviously, as well as underwater techniques for getting people out of hazardous situations like underwater caves. There is also training in the use of specialized equipment used in such rescues.
Deep Dive Scuba - this is scuba diving in extreme deep water conditions, and includes training in the use of equipment for operating in high pressure depths. Deep dive scuba is extremely dangerous and not recommended for casual divers who are taking it as a hobby, since in some cases it involves descending to depths that feature water pressures that would physically crush a person wearing regular scuba gear. Naturalists usually take this training up as a way to study sea-bottom dwelling life forms, and geologists and oceanologists likewise take it up for studying underwater formations like volcanoes and rock fissures.
Hazardous Area Scuba - this type of training specializes in teaching scuba divers advanced forms of safety in scuba diving. The diving skills required per se don't differ too much from the levels of skill involved in regular scuba, but additional training is given for allowing a diver to explore hazardous area that are usually restricted to regular divers. Some examples of hazard areas include shipwrecks, coral reefs infested with toxic life forms, shark infested waters, and underwater caves. While not for the regular hobbyist, some of the more serious scuba divers take this up for thrills.
Instructional Courses - this type of scuba course teaches a scuba diver how to teach other people to scuba dive. It also features training in basic first aid to help injured pupils, as well as tutorials in buddy systems that are required for helping noobies along underwater. Obviously, a certificate in basic entry level scuba diving is a must for taking this course up, though no proficiency in the more advanced courses is required since this mainly focuses on teaching others the methods of recreational scuba, and not professional scuba.
