so i'm a swimmer and sometimes after swimming for a long time or doing a long workout of pulling with a pool buoy my right middle or ring finger liek cramps. people find it wierd and that it never happens to them. i think they can cramp from pulling the water? but i'm not sure.
what do you think it is?
i get the same thing in my toes. They are just muscle spasms, and they are completely random. If i am doing a kicking set, they will just cramp up so badly and it hurts to swim. My coaches said you can prevent these cramps by eating bananas. The potasium helps. I have been eating them and haven't had a cramp since.
How to Swim Competitive Breaststroke : Pull Drills for Breaststroke
What is the top 10 technique Drills to make me a better, faster, and more efficient to do Freestyle/Front Cr?
Yeah, so I am going to join Edmonton Phoenix Club on end of March, start of April as it is both one of the top 10 in London and closer to me, but I want to know what is the top 10 technique Drills to make me a better, faster, and more efficient to do Freestyle/Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breast Stroke swimming, I need to start this and get ready for April, please help me if you can.
At the moment I am doing the following workout if it helps; I do the following in a 25metre pool
2 x 25 metre Freestyle/Front Crawl; Fast as I can
2 x 25 metre Backstroke; Fast as I can
2 x 25 metre Breast Stroke; Fast as I can
2 x 25 metre Freestyle/Front Crawl with a Pull Buoy working on my arms; Fast as I can
2 x 25 metre Backstroke with a Pull Buoy working on my arms; Fast as I can
I do this for an hour with no stopping to get rest and in order
1.-Fingertrip drag (drag fingertips across the water)
2.-Six-kick (six kicks per stroke)
3.-Six-kick with fingertip (combination of the two above)
4.-Single Arm Rollout (swim using only one arm, breath to the side of the arm you're using)
5.-Kick (done on back or with board, self-explanatory)
6.-Catch-up (hold your stroke out in front and touch both hands together, pull with bottom arm)
7.-Dog-paddle (don't life shoulders out of water)
8.-Fist (swim, but with your hand in a fist)
9.-OK (same as fist, but keep your hand like its making an ok sign)
10.-Breath control (focus on keeping a regulated breathing pattern)
Race Compete Swim Why do Channel 7 insist on repeating the swimming all night?
We saw the races during the day, there are plenty of other Australians competing that channel 7 are ignoring?
it has a lot of australians in it that are breaking world records and its a lot more interesting than some other events

My first triatholon, I need help.?
I'm 15 and I'm going to compete in my first (youth) triatholon and I have a couple questions for anyone who knows about or has been in a triatholon. First of all, the race I'm doing is a 400m swim, 7 mile bike, and a 2 mile run. What are the transactions in between each like, do I change clothes after I swim, is it still part of the race? What should I wear for each? And what kind of bike do you recommend (I need to buy one)? Any additional information would be great, thanks.
Hi! First off, correct spelling is "triathlon" (although that mistake is one a lot of folks make). And the short periods between swim and bike, and between bike and run, are called "transitions." And they *do* count against your time, so you want to hurry through them!
Although there *are* specialized triathlon bikes that allow, and even require, you to stay in a low, flat-back, streamlined or "aero" (short for aerodynamically-efficient) position, it's far better to train on a so-called "road bike" (like the Tour de France riders use almost every day) with drop handlebars.
You can get *some* of the aero advantages of a triathlon bike from Profile Jammer GT bars:
You've got to go to the best local bike shop in your area and get your bike properly fitted to you. Don't cut corners here.
It's important to be comfortable while you train, so you've gotta get cycling shorts, which have an integral pad to cushion your butt. You can race in a triathlon-specific suit which is essentially a swimsuit with a smaller version of that pad. Most ambitious triathletes race in these, so they don't change their clothes mid-race and thus lose time.
Finally you'll want to buy Yankz elastic laces and put them on your running shoes. That will save you substanial time in T2 (the second, or bike-to-run, transition).
Good luck, and write if you have further questions!
Swimming Race Goggles What is the best pair of goggles for racing in swimming?
I'm looking for a new pair of goggles to race with. Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind to get?
Speedo vanquisher is great. I had lots of problems with goggles coming off when I would dive, but after I bought vanquisher I never had another problem. They're also very affordable, there's a pair on amazon.com for $8.25.

Sprint Swim Goggles is there any specific kinda contact or any way that contact lenz stays on ur eye under water?
Im on polo and swim team I use contact lens that is fine when I swim cause I have goggles but when I play polo I cant have goggles I need to see players so I need contact and I need to sprint to the ball any recommendation
I've been playing for 10+ years and have worn contacts the entire team. I've never lost one but they do sometimes move out of place but just do what you normally do when that happens. There's no reason to be underwater or with your eyes open underwater in water polo so you will be fine. Plus the alternative, prescription swim glasses (rec specs I think) are awful.

Who wrote this swimming quote?
The quote is: People don't swim because its fun. Ask any swimmer, most of them hate it, but they couldn't imagine their life without it. It’s part of them, the love/hate relationships, it’s what they live for. They live for the practices, parties, cheers, long bus rides, meets, the countless pairs of goggles, water, Gatorade, and the coaches you hate but appreciate. Coaches you hate but appreciate. They live for the way it feels when you beat the other team by those few points, and you know those 2 extra sprints you swam in practice were worth it. They live for the way you become a family with your team, they live for the countless songs you sing in your head while you swimming all those laps. They live for the competition, they live for the friends, the practices, the memories, the pain, its who they are. It's who we are... Swimmers
and i would like to use it in a writing piece but i don't know who to give credit too.
It's actually not a swimming quote, it's an athletic quote that is frequently changed to fit the specific sport someone is in.
