Finding microorganisms in water with microscope?
So i just asked a question wherein I mentioned I have tried all sources of water including the lake behind my house, and was able to find NOTHING. I only found specs of dirt/debris but Nothing living. No microorganisms of any kind.
One of the blokes answered that the lake should be filled with them, which I thought too.
I have tried everything I can but just can't find anything.
Does anyone have any ideas of what i'm doing wrong or why I wouldn't be seeing anything?
Is it there I have to try multiple samples over and over until I find one with them in there? Are they that scarce?
I've collected the water, put a drop on a slide with a dropper, put a clear slide over it, and I focus on different levels in the drop but I see nothing whatsoever.
Any tips, suggestions, or any of that as to how I can find something like this in water?

Try taking samples from areas that are very still, or from sand/dirt on the bottom. Many microorganisms like to stay close to their food source, so avoid sampling from any area where they would be flushed out.
